Week 6 - Summer 1

Here is your weekly summary for the final week of Summer term 1
Weekly Update – Summer 1, Week 6
We’ve made it to the end of the first half of the summer term and what a busy half-term it’s been. The children have worked so hard and we are so very proud of them. There will be lots of events happening and information provided over the final half-term of this academic year, so please ensure that you are checking emails and class dojo.
Here are a few polite requests from us as teachers:
Please encourage your child to practise their timetables at home. We are having a big push on this at the moment. This is a skill they need to secure in order to meet age-related expectations.
The weather is being very kind to us at the moment and the children are keen to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. With this in mind, could you please send your child to school with a water bottle, sunhat, appropriate footwear and, if possible, apply sunscreen before school.
Here is a round-up of last week's learning and what we are moving onto:
Maths:
The first week back sees the children starting work by telling the time. It would be greatly appreciated if parents/carers could work with their children over the half-term on this skill.
English:
The children are moving onto their next genre, a recount based on the book ‘Escape to Pompeii’.
Reading:
In guided reading, the children will be looking at non-fiction texts linked to our next geography unit – The Amazon Rainforest.
PSHE:
Our jigsaw topic for the next half-term is all around our bodies and the changes that we see happen.
Spanish:
We will be continuing with the Spanish unit on fruits and vegetables.
Computing:
We will be completing our computing unit, which will see the children create their own magazine covers using Google Docs.
We hope the children have a well-deserved break, and they have a lovely week making memories with their family and friends.
We will see you all on Monday 2nd June.
