Weekly Update

Summer 2, Week 1

What a fantastic first week back we’ve had with our informative and engaging trip to the National Coal Mining Museum taking place on Wednesday! Read on to find out more about what we’ve been learning about on our first week back.

Maths:
In maths, we have both partitioned and flexibly partitioned decimal numbers. We have also made wholes using both tenths and hundredths.

English:
In English, we have contrasted and compared two newspaper reports to consider similarities and differences. We have also practised how to identify and use both direct and indirect (reported) speech.

Reading:
This week, we have read a non-fiction text about the Treaty of Versailles to finish our WWI focus. We have practised our vocabulary, retrieval and inference skills using the text.

PE:
During PE, the children had their first swimming lesson after half term, developing their skills at their level.

History:
We have reached the end of our WWI unit and we investigated how the Treaty of Versailles led up to the beginning of WWII.

Spanish:
In Spanish, children designed their own house, learning how to say rooms that were in the house and rooms that weren’t.

Art:
In art, we added to our Georgia O’Keeffe A3 project and practised further techniques focused on her art.

Special Mentions:
Congratulations to our special mention children this week: Sophie and Joseph (4H) along with Sophie and Ethan (4P). A big well done to all of you!
