Week 1 Summer 2

Here is your weekly round-up of the first week of the final half-term of the year.
Weekly Update – Summer 2, Week 2
Week 1 seems to have flown by! The children are all working very hard to secure their learning before the transition to Y4 starts. We have had a number of parents/carers asking when the children are finding out who their new teachers are and what classes they will be in. This will all be communicated in due course with you all.
A polite reminder that Sports Day is this Friday (13th June). If parents and carers could ensure that the children have their PE kit on this day, a water bottle, sun hat and, if possible, suncream applied, that would be great.
Here’s what Year 3 have been learning about this week:
Maths:
This week, we have been focusing on learning to tell the time, specifically am and pm, along with o clock, quarter past / to and half past. If the children could practise at home, this would be very helpful as they have found it a little challenging. We will be continuing with time for the next couple of weeks.
English:
In English, we have started our new genre (a recount) and we will be continuing this next week.
Reading:
During guided reading, we look at non-fiction texts related to the Amazon Rainforest.
Science:
We are due to complete our work on plants this week and carry out an end-of-unit assessment.
PE:
With sports day coming up, the children will be practising the events and skills needed to compete on the day.
Geography:
Our new unit this half-term is the Amazon Rainforest and its specific features.
Music
Music is back on the timetable and the children will be learning a new song and how to accompany it with different instruments.
D&T
D&T is also back on the timetable and the children will be working on their new project, ‘textiles’, where they will be creating a felt phone/glasses case.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
