Weekly Update

Summer 2, Week 3
It’s been a very warm week throughout school with lots of learning taking place. This week was our final assessment week of Year 4 as the children demonstrated what they had learned in EGPS, Reading and Maths. It has been tough going at times in this heat but the children have tried really hard and should be proud of their efforts.
In the afternoons, we have focused on our wider curriculum subjects.
Geography:
The children explored how the use of coal mines changed land use in and around the mines. We compared images of Rawmarsh both before and after the mines were established.
Science:
We re-engaged with our prior learning on classification keys and used this to help create our own classification keys to sort animals.
PSHE:
In our next lesson on relationships, the children created collages about a person/thing that they love. There is more work to be done on these but they have made a great start.
PE:
In PE, we have continued to develop our throwing, catching and striking skills in cricket and applying them in the context of a game.
Spanish:
In our final Spanish lesson of Year 4, the children completed their end of unit assessments all about ‘Mi Casa’. We have been really impressed with the children’s listening and speaking skills and how hard they have worked on their pronunciation.
Computing:
Using Photopea, we have continued our photo editing skills by combining photos using the gradient tool. This skill will really help us when we come to do our final project in the next computing lesson.
Special mentions this week went to Lola A and Kurtis (4H) and Archie S and Olivia (4P). Well done to all of you for your hard work this week!
We hope you all enjoy the Summer Fair taking place this afternoon and thank you for all your support in helping school bring this event to life.
