Weekly Update
It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of Week 7 — only one more week until the half-term break! The children have been working incredibly hard and are making great progress. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Maths
This week in maths, we finished our Place Value unit, and the children did brilliantly on their end-of-unit assessment. We’ve now moved on to Addition and Subtraction, where the children have been adding 4-digit numbers using formal written methods.
English
In English, the children have been comparing and contrasting two different diary entries by identifying their similarities and differences. They have also learnt how to use time adverbials effectively within their writing. Towards the end of the week, they began critiquing and up-levelling a diary entry, which they will continue with next week.
Reading
During reading sessions, we explored Chapter 5 of The Iron Man. The children discussed new vocabulary and practised retrieving key details from the text.
History
In history, the children explored how the Indus Valley Civilisation helped shape the modern world we live in today. They also completed their end-of-topic quiz and showed great recall of their learning.
Science
In science, the children discovered the results of their evaporation investigation, exploring whether a larger surface area increases the rate of evaporation.
Spanish
In Spanish, the children learnt how to ask and answer the question, “Where do you live?” and enjoyed practising this with their partners.
Art
In art, the children continued working on their pieces inspired by Hokusai. They began printing their tiles this week and will be adding further detail and colour next week.
Special mentions were awarded to Rebeca D and Maya S in 4H, and Millan and Eden W in 4P for their hard work and dedication to their learning this week. Well done to all!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton
