This week has been full of fantastic learning across all subjects! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

📚 English / Guided Reading – Goodnight Mister Tom
-Explored key characters, including Tom and Willie
-Discussed how their personalities and pasts are shown in the text
-Planned a character description using story mapping
-Shared thoughtful ideas during guided reading

➗ Maths – Four Operations
-Practised a range of strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
-Chose efficient methods for solving different problems
-Tackled multi-step questions with growing confidence

🌍 History – Introduction to World War II
-Learnt when and why WWII began
-Identified the countries involved

🧵 Design & Technology – Sewing Skills
-Learnt from videos of running stitches and securing knots
-Prepared for creating their own textile project

💡 Science – Voltage and Bulb Brightness
-Investigated how voltage affects the brightness of a bulb
-Built circuits and recorded observations
-Made predictions and reflected on results

🏀 PE – Basketball & Rotherham United Coaching
-Developed dribbling, passing and shooting skills
-Enjoyed an energetic session with Rotherham United coaches

✨Special Events This Week

Michael Rosen Poetry Morning
Children explored Rosen’s playful language, rhythm and performance techniques. They thoroughly enjoyed reading aloud, experimenting with actions and voices, and even creating their own poems inspired by his work.

Anti-Bullying Week
This week we also marked Anti-Bullying Week 2025, focusing on the theme of “Make a Noise About Bullying.” We enjoyed a live online assembly held in schools across the country. The children showed great maturity in thinking about how they can contribute to a positive school environment.

Children In Need
Finally, a huge thank you for your generosity during Children in Need. Your donations will help support vital projects for children and young people across the UK.
