End of Spring 1 Week 2 Messages and Updates

What a fantastic week we have had in year 5 this week. Continuing our narratives genre of writing has been great and the children have really enjoyed being creative with their work, more and more of the children have found themselves being successful in their maths this week as we move towards mastering formal methods of multiplication and division and we have created some excellent looking planets as we continue to learn about Earth and space in science. On top of this, 5M won the attendance trophy thanks to a perfect 100% attendance this week - great effort from everyone involved this week.
Homework books have come home again with another English and maths task as well as the children's spellings for the week. Please encourage the children to complete their homework by Wednesday and we will reward them with dojo points.
Next week:
In English, we will be creating our own narratives so please ask the children about their writing.
In maths, we will be moving on to fractions - looking at how to multiply different fractions accurately.
In guided reading, we will be working on improving the quality of our answers, again using our 'How to Train Your Dragon' novel.
In history, we will continue our current unit, focussing on the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and the legacy of their rule.
In P.E., we will continue developing our own dance routines.
In PSHE, we will continue thinking about the careers we want later in life and what we will need in order to achieve these.
In science, we will continue our unit on Earth and space.
In languages, we will continue our unit on the date.
