Week 3 - Spring 1

Here is your weekly round up of Week 3

Weekly Update - Week 3

Christmas now seems like a distant memory and the children are super focussed and engaged in their new projects and learning. We've had an exciting week visiting Egypt and talking about our upcoming residential to Sherwood Forest.

This is what we have been up to in our learning:

Maths
We are carrying on our work around multiplication and this week we have looked at different strategies to solve multiplication questions. Next week we will be looking at division and different methods to solve these questions.

English
Miss Brown's group have completed their setting descriptions and published their work. These are now up in the main hall taking pride of place.Next week, the children will be starting their new genre (sorry no spoilers). Mrs Pritchard and some of our other phonics groups, have continued working on their RWI programmes.

Reading
Miss Brown's group have read Gorilla this week and answered a range of questions from the text. They have enjoyed exploring the style of the author and looking for hidden messages. Mrs Pritchard's and the other phonics groups have continued consolidating their sounds and applying them to a variety of different texts. Next week, the children will be looking at Gorilla again and exploring different ways to interpret the text.

History
The children flew over Egypt this week with Mr Wilkinson's drone and looked closely at the Pyramids. Next week, the children will be discussing the Egyptian hierarchy and which people were important in Ancient Egyptian times.

Science
This week, the children carried out an amazing practical experiment looking at igneous , metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Next week, the children will be identifying different types of weathering.

Art
The children have planned their final design so next week the messy stuff begins where they will be making their design out of clay.

Spanish
The children have continued their work on musical instruments and how to pronounce them in Spanish. The children will be continuing this next week.

Computing
The children used the i pads to begin i motion animations. The children explored how the pictures can move. Next week, the children will be creating their own i motion movies.

PE
Our first dance lesson focused on children developing different levels and movements. This will continue throughout this half term.

Special mentions this week went to Hudson and Albert in 3B, alongside Ethan and Jaxon (3P) for their overall effort and attitude to learning during this new term. Congratulations to all of you!

Thank you all for your continued support.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Brown and Mrs Pritchard
