End of Spring 2 Week 3 Messages and Updates

Wow! What an amazing week the children have had this week. The amount of concentration and effort they have put into their assessments has been incredible and the results they have achieved reflect this. We are incredibly proud of the whole of year five as we know that assessment weeks can be really challenging. We finished by celebrating our special mentions as usual - well done to Carson and Sophie from 5B and Aleyah and Freya from 5M - we are very proud of you.

The highlights of the week included a practical science lesson to see who could make the best paper boats and a very appetising lesson in design technology where the children planned their flatbreads for next week!

Next week, we have plenty more to look forward to:

In English, we will continue our discursive piece of writing about whether animals should be kept in captivity.

In guided reading, we will continue to practise answering questions based on our novel 'How to Train Your Dragon'.

In maths, we are looking at calculating the area of composite shapes.

In science, we will continue our unit of work on animals and humans - looking at the development of children.

In design technology, we will be making our own flatbreads before taste testing and evaluating them.

In R.E., we will be continuing our enquiry on Christianity which looks at how important it is to Christians to believe that God sacrificed his only son.

In P.S.H.E., we will be continuing our unit of work around being healthy with a focus next week on emergency aid.

In geography, we will continue developing our atlas reading skills.

In P.E., we will be developing skills in both badminton and basketball.
