Children

End of Summer 1 Week 3 Messages and Updates

Week 3 ended with Y5M claiming the attendance trophy again thanks to another week of 100% attendance. This topped off a great week for the children in year 5 as they finished their amazing work in English where they completed their biographies on Kenton Cool, continued enjoying their maths lessons on shape and learnt about the tomb of Fu Hao and what it taught archaeologists in history.

Notices:

Next week, Monday is a bank holiday so the children will be back at school on Tuesday. The children need their P.E. kits on Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. Earrings should be removed before school please. Please ensure children have a suitable outdoor kit on Monday (white t-shirt, a warm jumper, jogging bottoms and trainers).

Please encourage the children to spend a little time each day reading, which we would be grateful if you logged on boomreader so that the children get dojos in school, practise their spelling patterns and spend a little time working on mastering their times tables.

Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will start looking at coordinates and using them to understand translation.
- In reading, we will practise answering questions around our new novel - Floodlands
- In history, we will continue looking at the Shang Dynasty - what archaeological finds tell us about the time period.
- In science,  we will continue looking at the life cycles of animals.
- In art, we will continue studying Claude Monet.
- In P.E., we will continue developing our skills in cricket and athletics.
- In P.S.H.E., we will continue our unit of work around developing a healthy lifestyle.
