End of Summer 1 Week 4 Messages and Updates

Week 4 has been another great one for the year 5s. We have started learning about writing a descriptive setting, continued enjoying our novel 'Floodlands', mastered coordinates and translation in maths and spent time reflecting on 80 years since VE day.
Notices:
Next week, the children need their P.E. kits on Monday and Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. Earrings should be removed before school please. Please ensure children have a suitable outdoor kit on Monday (white t-shirt, a warm jumper, jogging bottoms and trainers).
Please encourage the children to spend a little time each day reading, which we would be grateful if you logged on boomreader so that the children get dojos in school, practise their spelling patterns and spend a little time working on mastering their times tables.
Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will start looking at reflection.
- In reading, we will practise answering questions around our novel - Floodlands
- In history, we will continue looking at the Shang Dynasty - focusing on who the most important groups of people were during this time.
- In computing, we will continue looking at vector drawings.
- In science, we will continue looking at the life cycles of animals.
- In art, we will continue studying Claude Monet.
- In P.E., we will continue developing our skills in cricket and athletics.
- In P.S.H.E., we will continue our unit of work around developing a healthy lifestyle.
