Cracking Science

As we continue our work on life cycles, the children have been learning about different types of eggs. This lesson specifically focused on the structure of eggs from birds, and eggs from amphibians, comparing the two. The children learnt about the purposes of the albumen, chalaza, yolk, germinal disc, shell, air cell and shell membrane. This helped the children understand the life cycles of birds, as well as how embryos grow and survive in an egg. We are super "eggcited" for our next lesson!
