This week, Year 5 have begun their new English unit with a lively and engaging role play activity. The classroom was transformed into a travel agency, with pupils taking on the roles of both travel agents and holiday seekers. This gave them the opportunity to step into different characters, use their imaginations and practise their speaking and listening skills in a purposeful context.

The activity encouraged pupils to think carefully about questioning, persuasion and information gathering, as they discussed holiday preferences, destinations and package options. As well as making the lesson fun and memorable, it helped to build confidence in oracy, collaboration and vocabulary development. It was wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic, creative and committed to their roles.

This exciting start to the unit has set the tone for what promises to be a rich and enjoyable learning journey in English.
