β Year 6 Weekly Learning Summary β
This week has been full of fantastic learning across all subjects! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:
π English / Guided Reading – Goodnight Mister Tom
-We continued reading up to Chapter 7
-We explored the development of Tom’s character and his growing relationship with Willie
-We planned and wrote detailed character descriptions of Mr Tom
-We published final pieces in neat, showcasing best efforts
β Maths – Fractions
-Began our new unit on fractions
-Learned how to simplify fractions accurately
-Explored equivalents using diagrams and reasoning
-Practised applying these skills to problem-solving tasks
π History – WWII Propaganda
-Investigated real propaganda posters used during World War II
-Discussed the purpose of propaganda and how it influenced public opinion
-Analysed imagery and slogans to understand their impact
π‘ Science – Circuit Problems and Solutions
-Learned about common electrical circuit issues, such as breaks and overloading
-Discussed how these faults can be identified and fixed
-Applied scientific reasoning to practical scenarios
π Christmas Performance – Rosehill’s Christmas Carol
-Held auditions for our upcoming Christmas play
-Children showed confidence, enthusiasm and great performance skills
-Parts will be announced soon as rehearsals begin!
π PE – Basketball & Rotherham United Coaching
-Developed marking skills
-Enjoyed an energetic session with Rotherham United coaches with fun team games
-We spent a session in the classroom talking about different food groups and healthy diets.
β¨Special Events This Week
This Thursday we held auditions for our school Christmas performance! Children will find out about their roles next week as rehearsals begin.
