Autumn Term - Week 12

β Year 6 Weekly Learning Summary β
This week has been tough but a great learning process with assessments in Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Maths! Well done to all the children for their resilience Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:
π English / Guided Reading – Goodnight Mister Tom
-Continued reading up to Chapter 7 and 8.
-Explored what we can infer from the character’s actions.
-Create a story board of key events in the story so far.
-Showed great resilience and determination in the SPaG and Reading 2022 papers as part of assessment week.
β Maths – Fractions
-Continuing our new unit on fractions we looked at ordering and comparing fractions with different denominators.
-Smashed the 2022 SATs papers as part of our assessment week.
π‘ Science – Circuit output investigation
-Children designed and completed their own experiment this week exploring circuit outputs.
-Children identified variables and made conclusion based on their findings.
π Christmas Performance – Rosehill’s Christmas Carol
-Parts were allocated this week for the Christmas performance.
-Children showed confidence, enthusiasm and great performance skills again!
-Run throughs have taken place getting ready for show time in a few weeks!
π PE – Basketball & Rotherham United Coaching
-Children looked at how to block defenders and use space for passing.
-Enjoyed an energetic session with Rotherham United coaches with fun team games.
-We spent a session in the classroom talking about diet- trying to name a fruit or vegetable for each letter of the alphabet!
β¨Special Events This Week
-Children in 6A took a trip on Tuesday to RCS which was a great experience and answered lots of questions. Next Tuesday 6N will be taking the same trip and should come back with a better understanding of what to expect at secondary!
-The Panto on Thursday afternoon left ears ringing but was a great experience and a good time for everyone! We’ll have to do it again then won’t we?
