Summer 1, Week 2
Although it’s been a shorter, four-day week, Year 4 has certainly kept busy! Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on:
Maths:
This week, we focused on identifying equivalent fractions before moving on to adding two or more fractions together.
English:
In English, we brainstormed ideas and began planning our non-chronological reports about China. The reports will cover topics such as history, heritage, festivals and food.
Reading:
In guided reading, we’re nearing the end of Street Child and have been answering comprehension questions based on the text.
PE:
In basketball, we played our final lesson game, where we saw some fantastic basketball skills on display!
History:
We’ve kicked off our new topic on World War 1 by investigating how the war started and which countries were involved.
PSHE:
This week’s Jigsaw lesson focused on healthy friendships. We explored the qualities that make up positive, supportive friendships.
RE:
In RE, the children explored the moral codes used by non-religious people to guide their lives.
Special Mentions:
A big congratulations to Daisy, Carson, and Joshua (4H), as well as Pippa, Emily B, Ella-May, Eli and the whole of 4P for their excellent attitude and effort in swimming this week – well done! 🎉
Finally, Mr. Piper and Mr. Hampton would like to express how proud we are of all the children for their participation in swimming. We know many were nervous at first but seeing their smiles after getting into the pool and trying something new was truly rewarding. Well done, Year 4! Here’s to another great week ahead.
