Summer 1, Week 4
It’s been another four day week here at Rosehill and Year 4 have packed in plenty of learning! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
Maths:
This week, we began our new unit on decimals. The children explored tenths as fractions before moving on to understand them as decimals.
English:
In English, the children have finished writing their non-chronological reports. Next week, they’ll be editing, critiquing and publishing their final pieces.
Reading:
We’ve delved into non-fiction texts, using our retrieval and inference skills with an extract from British History focused on life in the trenches.
PE:
Our second cricket lesson saw us working on bowling technique and learning the rules around this skill in the game.
History:
We’ve been learning about inventions that supported soldiers during World War I, discussing which ones the children felt had the biggest impact.
Computing:
In Computing, the children developed their digital skills by practising how to crop and rotate images.
Spanish:
We’ve started a new unit, mi casa, and have been learning how to answer the question, “Where do you live?”
Art:
The children began exploring the work of Georgia O’Keeffe and started creating their two-page spread, which they’ll continue to build on each week with new techniques and insights.
Special Mentions:
A big well done to Lincoln, Jake, and Amie (4H), and Archie and Summer (4P) for receiving this week’s special mentions!
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton.
