Weekly Update

Summer 1, Week 5
Can you believe we are almost at the end of another half term? We’ve been hard at work this week and here’s a look at what we’ve been learning:
Maths:
This week, we have learnt how to divide both a one-digit and two-digit number by 10. We have also started to investigate hundredths.
English:
In English, we have edited the final section of our non-chronological reports about China before publishing our work. The children should be proud of their efforts.
Reading:
We’ve had a week focused on poetry as we’ve looked at the war poem, ‘Dulce et Decorum est’. The children have really developed their retrieval and inference skills with this text.
PE:
In cricket, we have refined our bowling technique and applied this in a game setting.
History:
We have studied the end of World War I and why the war came to an end when it did.
Science:
We continued our unit on Living Things investigating how we can classify organisms using Venn and Carroll diagrams.
Computing:
We have learnt how to crop an image before recolouring images and editing their brightness and contrast.
Spanish:
In Spanish, we’ve learnt the different names for some rooms in the house. We have learnt how to say which rooms are in our house.
Art:
Our next lesson focused on the work of Georgia O’Keeffe where we looked at different techniques that could be used with oil pastels.
Special Mentions:
Congratulations to our special mention children this week: Hollie and Roman (4H) along with Emily and Dawson (4P). A big well done to you all!
