Summer 2. Week 2
Weekly Update
What a fantastic week we’ve had! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been learning:
Maths:
This week, the children have been learning how to compare and order decimal numbers. They also practised rounding decimals to the nearest whole number with growing confidence.
English:
In English, we began by critiquing and up-levelling a weak example of a newspaper report. The children then applied what they learned by independently writing a section of their own report.
Reading:
Our reading sessions focused on a non-fiction text about food webs. The children made great strides in developing their retrieval and inference skills through engaging activities and thoughtful discussion.
PE:
In PE, the children continued with their swimming lessons and have made noticeable improvements in both technique and confidence. They also started practising for our annual Sports Day.
Geography:
This week in geography, we launched our new topic by exploring what a mining community looks like. Using local maps, the children investigated where mines were located in Rotherham.
Spanish:
In Spanish lessons, the children have been learning the names of different rooms in a house. They are now able to describe their own homes using Spanish vocabulary with increasing fluency.
Sports Day:
What an incredible day! Sports Day was a huge success, and we couldn’t be prouder of the children. They approached each event with energy, enthusiasm, and a fantastic team spirit. Whether it was running races, throwing events, or team games, everyone gave their best effort and supported one another with cheers and encouragement. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and examples of great sportsmanship throughout the day. A big thank you to all who came to support — your presence made the day even more special!
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton.
