Spring 2, Week 2
As we end Week 2, we have had a very busy week which included celebrating World Book Day. The children looked absolutely brilliant in their costumes and enjoyed taking part in the different activities that were available.
Maths:
This week, the children finished the perimeter unit and tried hard in their end-of-unit assessments. We have now started a new unit on fractions, where the children have been learning to understand the whole before counting beyond one.
English:
The children have started writing their persuasive letters and have worked hard to ensure they include the key features.
Reading:
Street Child remains a firm favourite. Throughout the week, the children focused on developing their vocabulary, retrieval and inference skills.
Science:
In Science, the children continued their learning about electricity. They explored switches and how they are used within electrical circuits.
Geography:
This week, the children explored the most populous country in the world, China. They also looked at which countries share land borders with China.
Design and Technology:
The children continued their D&T project on salad snacks. Half of Year 4 designed their own salad snack pot that they would like to create, while the other half learnt different chopping techniques, including the bridge and claw methods.
Music:
The children continued with their ballad unit and this week sang the song Space Oddity by David Bowie.
PE:
In Basketball, the children developed their passing and movement with the ball. In Yoga, they explored how to connect breath with movement.
PSHE:
In PSHE, the children explored how to stay safe with friends and learnt that staying safe sometimes means being brave enough to make different choices from others.
Special Mentions:
Congratulations to Brian M and Tyler W (4H) and Franko M and Grace R (4P) for earning this week’s special mentions!
Always Children:
It was time for LKS2’s always children this week so congratulations to Poppy B and Layla S (4H), and Amelia K and Laney S (4P) for their consistent effort and dedication to their learning. A big well done to everyone!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support!
