Summer 1 - Week 1 - Weekly Update

Here is your weekly round up of Week 1 for the start of the new summer term.
Weekly Update – Summer 1, Week 1
A big welcome back to everyone for this shortened week which, despite being 4 days long, has still had lots of learning for the children. This week saw Mr Hodgson join the Year 3 team and what an impression the children have made. The Easter disco saw the children showcase their best dance moves and spend time with their friends following the half-term break.
The year 3 residential is closely approaching. Please check the dojo app regularly and check your emails for key information.
Here’s what Year 3 have been learning about this week:
Maths:
This week, we have been focusing on reading scales and converting kilograms into grams.
English:
In English, we have learnt all about shape poems and are in the process of creating our own based on different weather types.
Reading:
During guided reading, we looked at a range of different question styles, including inference, retrieval and vocabulary.
Science:
We completed our unit on animals, including humans, and consolidated all our learning.
PE:
In athletics, the children worked on using specific skills and also started their new topics.
Geography:
In our last geography lesson, we completed our end-of-unit assessment and looked at UNESCO and what they do.
PSHE:
Our Jigsaw lesson this week focused on families and the roles of the people we live with.
Spanish:
Spanish is back on the weekly timetable and the children will be learning all about fruits and vegetables.
Art:
A firm favourite of the children is Art and this half-term we are looking at the artist John Dyer and replicating his work using oil pastels.
We hope you have a lovely Easter break – don’t eat too much chocolate, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 22nd.
