Week 3 Summer 2

Here is your weekly round up and a sneak peak of what is happening next week.
Weekly Update – Summer 2, Week 4
Another wonderful week for year 3 ending with a spectacular summer fair. The children completed their summer term assessments and, WOW they really gave it their all (even in the heat). The children were focused, determined and gave every test 100%. As teachers, we are beyond proud of each and everyone of the children. We would also like to say thank you to all the families that attended the summer fair. It was a wonderful event, and it was great to see all the children enjoying the stalls and spending time with their families and friends.
Next week, we will be returning to normal lessons where the children will be learning the following:
English - The children will be writing their recounts based on the novel ‘Escape to Pompeii’.
Maths - We are continuing with our time unit looking at am/pm , durations and the 24-hour clock. The children have found time really difficult, so again, could we please ask parents to work with their children on this at home to secure the knowledge?
Guided Reading - Throughout the week, we will be looking at different question styles based on a non-fiction text about the Amazon Rainforest.
D&T - The children will be starting to make their felt cases and mastering stitching.
PSHE - As transition is quickly approaching, we are working with the children on change and embracing this positively.
Geography - Sees us continue our Amazon Rainforest project which the children are thoroughly enjoying.
Science - The children are completing their end of unit assessment.
PE - Games are on the agenda and the children will be playing a variety of different games and events on the field and MUGA.
Our wonderful Year 6 children will be leaving this week to go onto pastures new for their secondary journey. The whole school have been invited to watch the leavers performers on Wednesday which is extremely special and a great way to celebrate the wonderful 4 years of the Y6 children.
Just a polite reminder. The weather is beautiful at the moment and we really love to get the children out in the sunshine and enjoy the wonderful space we have. We cannot do this as much as we would like as we have a large number of children arriving at school with no water bottle or sun hat. Could parents/carers please ensure their child has a water bottle in school and also a hat. If sun cream could be applied before school that would be great. Thank you in advance for this.
Have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
