Week 2 - Spring 1

Here is your weekly round up of Week 2 and what will be happening in the week ahead.

Weekly Update - Week 2

Another exciting and engaging week at Rosehill. The children are really showing some excellent learning behaviours and resilience. The Y3 team are extremely proud of all their efforts.

Maths
We are carrying on our workaround multiplication and this week we have looked at different strategies to solve multiplication questions. Next week sees the children learning how to multiply a 2 digit number by a single digit.

English
Miss Brown's group have started their new genre of writing, which is a setting description, and the children have written some excellent pieces using all the descriptive features. Next week, the children will be editing and improving their work before publishing their final version. Mrs Pritchard and some of our other phonics groups, have continued working on their RWI programmes.

Reading
Miss Brown's group have started on their guided reading novel ' Into the forest' and have begun looking at reading skills, including retrieval and inference. Mrs Pritchard's and the other phonics groups have continued consolidating their sounds and applying them to a variety of different texts. Next week, the children will be looking at another Anthony Browne book called ' Gorilla'.

History
We have launched our new history topic, ' Ancient Egypt' where the children explored how the Ancient Egyptian civilisation began. The children have looked at hieroglyphics and what was around during Ancient Egyptian times.

Science
This week, the children carried out an amazing practical experiment looking at igneous , metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.

Art
The children used play doh this week to create a replica of the Annubis Shrine and next week they will be planning their final design.

Spanish
The children have continued their work on musical instruments and how to pronounce them in Spanish. The children will be continuing this next week.

Computing
The children used the i pads to begin i motion animations. The children explored how the pictures can move. Next week, the children will be creating their own i motion movies.

PE
Our first dance lesson focused on children developing different levels and movements. This will continue throughout this half term.

Special mentions this week went to Maeve and Autumn in 3B, alongside Shakeela and Lola B (3P) for their overall effort and attitude to learning during this first week back. Congratulations to all of you!

We have also had our 'Always Always' club today which celebrates selected children for their continued hark work and for following the school 'arrive' values everyday. Well done to Poppy and Isla (3P) and Darcy and Kai (3B)

Thank you all for your continued support.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Brown and Mrs Pritchard
